Note:  Unless otherwise specified, ALL events below are intended for registered members of SU72 (Hillsborough) ONLY.

SERVICE Reminders:  Adult volunteers may be required to chaperone service activities.  Girl Scouts should be wearing vest/sash/smock when volunteering in public.

FROM THE SUMs: Congratulations to our 22 graduating Girl Scouts and their leaders!  A gigantic THANK YOU to all our Troop Leaders, Troop Volunteers, and Service Unit Members for another successful Girl Scout year.  If you haven't said thank you yet, it's not too late.  Have your daughter make a picture, write a note, or some other creative option.  Your Leaders will greatly appreciate it. Enjoy the last few weeks of school and have a great summer!

• SPECIAL EVENT: ‘Boro Girl Scouts take Savannah. Looking for interest in 2027. Tentative Dates of June 24-June 28 2027.
  SU72 is going to try a 5 day/4 night trip to the Birthplace of Girl Scouts, Savannah, Georgia.  Trip includes airfare, hotel, JGL Birthplace event, day at Tybee Island, Trolley/Riverboat tour and an optional ghost tour.  Details & interest form are in the flyer and questions can be sent to savannah@borogirlscouts.org

• We wanted to take a moment and congratulate the award recipients of the first ever Tara O'Brien Leadership & Service award!  This year's recipients are Abigail S., Alyssa, P. & Laura W. 

🏖️SUMMER 2026

• SERVICE Gardeners and Butterfly Lovers - this SERVICE project is for you! Help tend our Hillsborough Girl Scouts Pollinator Garden.  One sign up = One month of work!  Tending to this garden means coming EACH WEEK OF THE MONTH to weed and refresh the hummingbird feeder.  Do it as a family!  Do it as a troop!   This is an SU72 Community Service Award activity.  Signup here.

🍂FALL 2026

• SERVICE Fall Cleanup (B/J/C/S/A) - While we do not have dates set yet, we need to start collecting information on Troops who would like to participate in Fall Cleanup this year.  Registration/roster submission completed August 8th.  The dates to be in September/early October.

• Nuts/Magazines sales will start on 9/16 - Details to follow!

• Learn about Hillsborough Girl Scouts! - Attention prospective Girl Scout Families! Join us Wed Sept 23rd from 6 PM - 7 PM at Hillsborough Library Rooms A/B to learn more about opportunities to participate in Hillsborough Girl Scouts. Can't make it? Complete our interest form and a member of our registration team will reach out.

• SERVICE Fall Town Cleanup (September/October weekends) - Troops may sign up by location and choose whichever date/time they want. Need to coordinate with Justin at the DPW (jrotolo@hillsboroughnj.gov) with roster and signed waivers when picking up supplies

• SERVICE Halloween Costume Drop Off (10/1) Girls are encouraged to donate either new or gently worn Halloween costumes towards the town’s costume exchange. Service will be collecting costumes between 5:30p and 7:30p at the Library Program Room A but girls may also drop off at 51 Michelle Lane up to 9/24

• SERVICE Halloween Costume Exchange Volunteers - J/C/S/A (10/1, 10/2 & 10/3) Looking for girl volunteers to help at the town’s costume exchange event.

• SERVICE Pink Pumpkin Painters All levels (10/4) - Paint pink pumpkins and donate bags to chemo patients. GIRLS MAY PARTICIPATE ON THEIR OWN FOR CREDIT

Pink Pumpkin Party 2026 - In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we will paint pink pumpkins and do a craft.

DATE/TIME: Sunday, October 4th - Session #1: 10-10:30am; Session #2: 11-11:30am; Session #3: 12-12:30pm

LOCATION: Docherty Park Pavilion -  162-164 US 206, Hillsborough, NJ

COST: $7 per participant to cover the cost of the materials; includes a patch and a take home craft. 

WHO: All levels. Girls must have 2026-2027 Girl Scout membership. 

HOW MANY: 50 participants per session

• SERVICE Pink Pumpkin Volunteers - C/S/A (10/4) Looking for older girls to help with checking in, setting up, and assisting with the craft. 

Session 1 - 9:45a-10:45a

Session 2 - 10:45a-11:45a

Session 3 - 11:45a-12:45p

• All For Fall: Join us Sun Oct 11th for an annual Hillsborough Girl Scout tradition as we invest our new Girl Scouts and Leaders, rededicate ourselves to the Girl Scout Promise and Law, and bridge our girls as they move up in their Girl Scouting levels.  We’ll also honor and celebrate our founder Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday with a service project and a dessert social!  Register here by October 1st (form will close when capacity is reached).   There is no cost for the event however we ask each troop to bring a contribution for the dessert social that you can sign up for on the registration form. • Fall Camping-Co-Op: Friday October 16th-Sunday October 18th at Camp Oak Spring, All Levels.  For those who completed registration in June, please keep an eye on your emails for final registration details and activity sign-ups, which will be due by Sunday, Sept 13.  If anyone else would like more information about fall camping, please reach out directly to outdoors@borogirlscouts.org.

• Award Project Juliette’s Birthday Bash - Sun Oct 18th 2 - 4 PM - Celebrate Juliette Gordon Low’s Birthday and earn the GS Way badge (B/J) or a fun patch (D) at Hillsborough Municipal Building. Flyer is here and the SUG for volunteers CSAs is here.

• SERVICE Amsterdam School Trunk or Treat: 5th grade and older (10/23) 5 - 8 PM Amsterdam Elementary School is looking for girl volunteers to help at their craft and tattoo stations.

• SERVICE Triangle School Trunk or Treat: 7th grade and older (10/23) 5:30 - 7:30 PM Triangle School is looking for girls to help at their Trunk or Treat event.

• SERVICE Norz Halloween Party C/S/A (10/23) 3:00 - 5:00/5:15/5:30 (see SUG) - Looking for girls to help at Norz Farm and adults to supervise.

• SERVICE Howl-o-ween Dog Parade - Juniors only (10/24) - Help judge the annual dog costume competition! (EVENT FULL as of 9/23)

• SERVICE Hillsborough Trunk or Treat J/C/S/A (10/24) 1:30 - 2:30 PM - Volunteers to assist with the Recreation Van's "trunk" by handing out goody bags and collecting votes for the "Best Trunk." (Note: 1 scout spot as of 9/23)

• SERVICE Scarecrow Festival Volunteers C/S/A (10/26) 4 PM - 6 PM Looking for girls to help with tattoos, snacks, and game stations.

• SERVICE Halloween Parades D/B (10/24 & 10/25) - SAVE THE DATES: Still securing dates/times but younger girls will wear their cutest costumes as they parade around our town’s assisted living facilities.

National/Council Activities:  

• GSHNJ Calendar of Events including hikes, and other fun events

• GSHNJ Clubs/Teams:  Learn more about Council-run special interest groups/teams for Girl Scouts including Family Ramblers (for girls & their families), SheStormz Robotics Team, Astronomy Club, Media Girls, and the HNJGIRL Advisory Board.  These clubs/teams are independent of individual troop activities.
