Winter Outdoor Challenge: The 2026 GSHNJ Winter Outdoor Challenge is here!

Do enough activities to equal 100 points and you’ll earn the patch.  The first 50 girls who send us a picture of your completed challenge sheet PLUS 5 photos of the girls doing activities OUTDOORS from this list will get their patch for FREE.  Deadline for submission is March 1st - outdoors@borogirlscouts.org.  You get 20 POINTS for snow tubing...so watch in early January for information and registration to join the outdoor team at Blue Mountain on 2/28!  GSHNJ Winter Outdoor Challenge flyer is here. 

CAMPOREE 2026 - MAY 1 - 3, 2026 AT CAMP CANADENSIS!

• Camporee- All Levels

  • Join SU72 on our annual Camporee weekend at Camp Canadensis, May 1-3 in the Poconos.  Cost is $100 per person which includes 4 meals, cabin sleeping and tons of activities/fun.  Register here to pay the deposit.  Click here to pay the balance. All details are on our website including an FAQ document which answers the majority of questions.

  • Camporee Scholarships If you have a financial concern, our SU72 offers 4 - $50 camporee scholarships.  Details can be found here.  Application deadline is February 23rd. Please read the form carefully and note we do not ask for your financial information just a few short questions.  

  • Please note per Girl Scouts USA regulations alcohol/drugs are not permitted at any event in which girls are present or business is conducted.  There is no tolerance and there are consequences.

February 2026

• Bronze Award Project: Girls from Troop 61096 are collecting new and gently used kids' clothes for the school nurses. Undergarments must be new, pants and shirts can be gently used. Please see the link here for their flyer and more information on how to support them.

• SU72 World Thinking Day - Come join SU72 as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of World Thinking Day on Sunday, February 22, 2026 as we travel the world at Auten Road Intermediate School.  Registration closes on Sunday, January 25.

• Girl Scout Cookie Booths begin Feb 27th!

• SU72 Family SnowTubing at Blue Mountain Saturday February 28th 11am - $36.50/person - Participants must be at least 36” tall and all children must be accompanied by a ticketed adult - either a parent or a troop leader.   Troop leaders must cover safety ratios if they are taking girls who are not their own following safety ratios for TRIPS, and troop leaders are responsible for all permission slips, medical history forms.  For more information,  and to purchase tickets use THIS LINK.  Registration closes mid-February but space is limited so register soon to ensure your spot.

• Girl Scout Week Green Ribbons

  • • SERVICE March 1st: Tie a green ribbon on a tree at the Municipal complex to kick off a month of Girl Scout celebrations. Sign up here.

    • SERVICE C/S/A can sign up to cut trefoils before and after they are laminated.  Please pay close attention to the dates on the signup for the trefoils to be collected and returned.  Sign up here.

• SERVICE PICTO volunteers - March 6th (5th grade and older)- HES HSA is looking for Girl Scouts to help at their annual PICTO event. Click here for more info.

• SERVICE Harlem Wizards Game Volunteers - March 7th (7th grade and older) - ARIS is looking for Girl Scouts to help at the basketball game against the Harlem Wizards. Click here for more info

• Girl Scout Cookie Sale ENDS Mar 29th

• Troop Fundraiser Recycle Old Sneakers!!: Troop 61096 is collecting previously worn sneakers to fundraise for their trip to Savannah, GA. They must be in pairs, laces are preferable. Please tie each pair of sneakers together. Dropoff at 309 Spader Ct or email troop61096@borogirlscouts.org to arrange pick up. More locations to come. See flyer here. Ends March 31st.

National/Council Activities:  

• GSHNJ Calendar of Events including hikes, and other fun events

• GSHNJ Clubs/Teams:  Learn more about Council-run special interest groups/teams for Girl Scouts including Family Ramblers (for girls & their families), SheStormz Robotics Team, Astronomy Club, Media Girls, and the HNJGIRL Advisory Board.  These clubs/teams are independent of individual troop activities.
