Administrative Reminders

• Back to Troop!  If you have not yet re-registered for the 2024-25 membership year, please do this quickly.  Registration is completed via the myGS system.  Photo release forms for 2024-2025 have been updated and added here.

• Nuts/Magazines sales will start on 9/18 and end on 10/29.

• Families:  Make sure you have completed the annual permission slip for each of your Girl Scouts for the new year (Oct 2024-Aug 2025)

• Board of Ed Room Reservation Form for 2024-2025 is now posted.

• Our SPIRIT WEAR STORE is now open and closes at midnight on October 30th.  Check out this link to order your favorite Hillsborough GS apparel.   All items will be delivered to Hillsborough free of shipping costs and will be ready for pick up mid to end of November, just in time for the holidays!

• Presidential Volunteer Service Award - deadline November 3 - OPEN TO ALL: The Presidential Volunteer Service Award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities and inspires others.  Hours are a combination of hours of service performed as a Girl Scout only during the prior Girl Scout year (Oct 1, 2023 - Sept 30, 2024) and includes: Hearts of Service, Take Action/Bronze/Silver/Gold Award, Service to Girl Scouting/Community Service Bar and SU 72 Community Service Award hours.  Adult volunteers are eligible as well!  Questions can be sent to pamweintraub@gmail.com and the deadline is November 3.  Girl Scouts or Adults can complete the form here.  Additional info is provided on the form itself.  (It is "Girl Scout honor" on your hours!)

• 2024 Fall Camp Skills - Sunday October 13, 2024 from 1-4 pm, Camp Agnes Dewitt in Hillsborough Come enjoy the fun of camping - without the overnight!   We will have a variety of activities to help you learn about camping:  packing,  tent building, hiking, skill building, and the ever-popular box oven bake-off where the team with the tastiest cake wins!  Bring your best Girl Scout spirit, positive energy, and a willingness to try some new-to-you activities. Can’t make it the whole day? Join us for what you can do!   Open to Brownies through Ambassadors, $15/girl participant includes all supplies and a really cool patch, and $6/adult over ratio requirements to cover the Dewitt fee.   • SERVICE:  Help for the 2024 Fall Camp Skills: We need Senior/Ambassador girls and adult helpers to run stations.  You should plan to be present from 1230 PM to 430 PM to setup/cleanup - sign up HERE. 

• 2024 All for Fall - Investiture, Rededication, Bridging - Sunday October 20, 2024 from 2-4pm, Hillsborough Municipal Building. Join us for an annual Hillsborough Girl Scout tradition as we invest our new Girl Scouts and Leaders, rededicate ourselves to the Girl Scout Promise and Law, and bridge our girls as they move up in their Girl Scouting levels.  We’ll also honor and celebrate our founder Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday with a service project and a dessert social!  Register HERE by October 5th (form will close when capacity is reached).   There is no cost for the event however we ask each troop to bring a contribution for the dessert social that you can sign up for on the registration form.   • SERVICE:  Volunteers Needed!  Cadette and older girls are needed to help run crafts and support the event. 

• Parent Overview Session:  Have questions about our SU?  Want to better understand the Girl Scout program regarding awards, journeys, badges, events, service opportunities, product sales and more?  Need a better handle on navigating our website?  Join us for our 4th annual parent overview session Monday, October 28th at 7 PM.  Meet some of our SU team and have general Girl Scout questions answered.  Always good for a refresher on the Girl Scout program and Hillsborough's Service Unit.

• SERVICE: Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Parade (Juniors) 10/26/24 8:30 AM - 10 AM SIGN UP FULL:  Calling all Juniors! Hillsborough Parks & Rec needs a few Junior Girl Scouts to help judge the annual dog costume competition. ADULT RATIOS ARE REQUIRED! Please sign up here.

• SERVICE: Hillsborough Trunk or Treat (C/S/A) 10/26/24 1:30 - 2:30 PM  SIGN UP FULL- Hillsborough Parks & Rec is also looking for C/S/A girls to assist at the annual Trunk or Treat event by handing out goody bags and collecting votes for "Best Trunk". ADULT RATIOS ARE REQUIRED! Please sign up here.

• SERVICE:  Halloween Parades D/B (10/26 & 10/27) - Younger girls will wear their cutest costumes as they parade around our town’s assisted living facilities.

• SERVICE:   Pollinator Garden Fall Shut Down - Monday November 4 - 4:30pm:  Help out putting the Pollinator Garden to bed for the winter.  Needing 8 strong girls who are willing to get down and dirty to help us shut down the garden.  She'll learn great garden-care skills while working together with others to care for a garden that has been thriving under our GS SU72 care for the past 7 years!   Sign up closes 11/1.  This event counts toward the 2025 GS SU72 Community Service Award. • Mary Mother of God Flag Retirement Ceremony - Sunday November 10th -  Parish has requested the support of the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of Hillsborough to conduct a Flag Retirement Ceremony after their 10:30 am Mass on Sunday November 10th.  Five girls are needed (all levels) and you can sign up here.

• Take a Hike! - All Levels - Saturday, Nov 16 - There will be two hike events – a shorter hike for our younger Girl Scouts (D/B/J - 10-11:30 AM) and a longer and more challenging hike for our older Girl Scouts (J/C/S/A 1:30-4 PM). AFTERNOON HIKE SIGN UP IS FULL. This is a Troop or IRG event. Bring your best Girl Scout spirit, strong legs, and a willingness to try new things. Skills learned can be applied to a number of outdoor badges at all levels. Leaders are ENCOURAGED to complete the badge requirements for their level!  Details in flyer.

• Brownies World of Girls Journey - Sunday, November 24th from 1-4 pm - This is a ‘girl led’ event hosted by Hillsborough’s own Cadette Girl Scouts who are working toward their Leadership in Action Award by presenting the Brownie World of Girls Journey to your Brownie troop! This is a Troop or IRG event - Troops must provide enough chaperones to meet GS ratio for their Brownies.  You will complete the journey!  Details in flyer.

National/Council Activities:

• Family Ramblers Hiking Club:  a Council-run special interest group for Girl Scouts and their family members. Ramblers hike on their own as a family, exploring trails and swapping their adventures, resources, and trail reviews. Review the information here Questions?
