Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards – If you or your troop earned the Bronze, Silver or Gold Award, please complete THIS FORM for our SU so that we can recognize you at our next Court of Awards. In addition, don't forget to complete the required Council documentation (see the links below).
High Award Prerequisite Changes:
This is a reminder that with the new member year, Oct 1 2026, journeys are officially retired and no longer allowed as Bronze, Silver, Gold Awards’ prerequisites. In addition, the new Leadership awards are in full effect and can serve as one path for Bronze, Silver, Gold Awards’ prerequisites. (You can find more info on these leadership awards here.) Our Awards team is always happy to meet with any Troop to review the High and Leadership Awards.
Gold Award Changes:
Also, GSUSA is in the process of revamping the Gold Award program. The standards and the GoGold system will remain. Changes will be in the training and process. Specifically, there will be one training program provided by GSUSA nationally (vs 111 different Council trainings) and girls will be assigned a Coach role to help them through the process. This will shift the process to be girl-centric vs. Council centric. We had a preview of this process last week and it is very similar to what we do in Hillsborough already. As the program rolls out, we will be working with GSHNJ to ensure continuity and transition support.
National Leadership and Advocacy Awards (Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts) – Refer HERE for more details and to see if you qualify). If you earned any of these awards, please complete THIS FORM for our SU so that we can recognize you at our next Court of Awards.
SU 72 Community Service Award – All level Girl Scouts are eligible to earn this Service Unit 72 award patch for volunteering at 5 or more specific community service events sponsored by Hillsborough SU72 Girl Scouts (see the Service Opportunities tracker for eligible activities). If you qualify for this award, please complete THIS FORM for our SU so that we can recognize you at our next Court of Awards
Hearts of Service Award - The Hearts of Service Award program is sponsored by and specific to our Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey (GSHNJ) Council that tracks and recognizes any volunteer service hours that girls at all levels perform as Girl Scouts. This award is earned individually. It can be earned once per Girl Scout level and there are different requirements to earn the award based on the level starting at 5 hours for a Daisy and up to 30 hours for an Ambassador). Refer to THIS SECTION of the GSHNJ Council website for more details and the necessary Council paperwork (scroll down to the Hearts of Service tab).
