Note:  Unless otherwise specified, ALL events below are intended for registered members of SU72 (Hillsborough) ONLY.

SERVICE Reminders:  Adult volunteers may be required to chaperone service activities.  Girl Scouts should be wearing vest/sash/smock when volunteering in public.

FROM THE SUMs: Congratulations to our 22 graduating Girl Scouts and their leaders!  A gigantic THANK YOU to all our Troop Leaders, Troop Volunteers, and Service Unit Members for another successful Girl Scout year.  If you haven't said thank you yet, it's not too late.  Have your daughter make a picture, write a note, or some other creative option.  Your Leaders will greatly appreciate it. Enjoy the last few weeks of school and have a great summer!

• SPECIAL EVENT: ‘Boro Girl Scouts take Savannah. Looking for interest in 2027. Tentative Dates of June 24-June 28 2027.
  SU72 is going to try a 5 day/4 night trip to the Birthplace of Girl Scouts, Savannah, Georgia.  Trip includes airfare, hotel, JGL Birthplace event, day at Tybee Island, Trolley/Riverboat tour and an optional ghost tour.  Details & interest form are in the flyer and questions can be sent to savannah@borogirlscouts.org

• We wanted to take a moment and congratulate the award recipients of the first ever Tara O'Brien Leadership & Service award!  This year's recipients are Abigail S., Alyssa, P. & Laura W. 

🍂FALL 2026

• SERVICE Harvest Bingo at Brookdale - J/C/S/A (Sat Nov 7th 3-4 PM) Brookdale is looking for some girls to help run their Bingo event.

• SERVICE MMOG Flag Retirement Ceremony - All levels (Sun Nov 8th 12:30 PM-1:30 PM) Looking for experienced girls to participate in flag retirement ceremony at Mary Mother of God Church. MUST COME IN FULL UNIFORM! (white shirt, khaki bottom OR GSUSA official shirt/pants; VEST or SASH) 

• SERVICE Bingo & Trivia at Bridgeway - J/C/S/A (Tues Nov 10th 6-7 PM & Sat Nov 28th 2:30-3:30 PM) Bridgeway is looking for some girls to run Bingo and trivia activities several times a month.

• OUTDOORS: Survival Skills With a Twist! Sat, Nov 21st 1 - 3 PM at Camp Agnes Dewitt - Get started earning your level-specific ‘Trail Adventure’ badge and learn some simple skills that will make your outdoor activities safer, and more fun for everyone! This event will give girls knowledge of how they can prepare in the event that their outdoor activities don’t go as planned and how they can take the lead in keeping themselves,and their friends safe. Girls will rotate through 5 stations learning, practicing, and having fun with some games that allow them to compete for points in topics like outdoor first aid and making a trailside stretcher, map and marker reading, packing a bag for safety, and more! All levels welcome - $10 per participant, includes all activities and a patch. Registration Closes: Fri Nov 13th or when full. Click here for the full flyer. • Junior Aide Award Training Session - JUNIORS ONLY - Sunday, November 22nd 1-3pm at Neshanic Reformed Church - TROOP/IRG REGISTRATION ONLY 

  • Juniors will begin preparing to help run a future Daisy badge event and eventually earn the Junior Aide Award, which can count as a prerequisite for working on a Bronze Award

🔔NOV/DEC/HOLIDAYS 2026

• SERVICE Thanksgiving Give Back Event - All levels (Nov 14th) - Hillsborough Library Program Room A Girls will make Thanksgiving decorations for nursing homes. Food donations for CAN are strongly encouraged, even if you cannot make event! Session 1: 3:30 PM-4 PM; Session 2: 4:15 PM-4:45 PM; Session 3: 5 PM-5:30 PM

• SERVICE Holiday Crafts at Brookdale - J/C/S/A (Sun Nov 29 2 PM-3:30 PM) Brookdale is looking for some girls to assist their residents with holiday crafts

• EVENTS Dino Discovery Day - ALL LEVELS - Saturday, December 5th 3:30-5:30pm at the Municipal Building - TROOP/IRG REGISTRATION ONLY 

  • Girls will earn a fun patch as well as cover all or most steps for their level’s STEM Career Exploration Badge

  • Looking for C/S/A Volunteers to assist with various stations at the event. Sign up here.

• COOKIE SALE 2027 

  • Volunteer Training: Plan for December virtual training - Date TBD - Tentatively 2nd week of December 

  • “Initial Sale will begin in January” - Tentatively January 11th

• RVCC Planetarium Trip - DAISIES ONLY - Saturday, January 9th 1:00-2:45pm at RVCC Planetarium - TROOP/IRG REGISTRATION ONLY - Registration will open on 10/27. Daisies will earn their Space Science Explorer Badge

• EVENTS - World Thinking Day 2027 - Save the Date!  Sun, Feb 21, 2027 (snow date - Sun, Feb 28, 2027)

  • Theme for 2027 is “Our People.”  Activities will celebrate Girl Scout changemakers that have created change and have made a difference every day.

  • Registration will open in November.  Start thinking about what country your troop will represent at the World Showcase.  

• EVENTS - Girl Scout Birthday 2027 Save the Date! - ALL LEVELS - Sat, Mar 6th, 2027 3-4:30pm at the Municipal Building - will be TROOP/IRG REGISTRATION ONLY 

🌼SPRING 2027

• AWARDS Hillsborough SU72 Awards Ceremony is Fri, June 4th at 7 pm in the ARIS Cafeteria

• We will recognize recipients of the B/S/G Awards as well as the C/S/A Leadership & Mentoring Awards and the SU72 Community Service Award (all levels).

National/Council Activities:  

• GSHNJ Calendar of Events including hikes, and other fun events

• GSHNJ Clubs/Teams:  Learn more about Council-run special interest groups/teams for Girl Scouts including Family Ramblers (for girls & their families), SheStormz Robotics Team, Astronomy Club, Media Girls, and the HNJGIRL Advisory Board.  These clubs/teams are independent of individual troop activities.
